Description
The aldosterone-renin ratio (ARR) is a coefficient indicating the functioning features of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. It is recommended as a screening test for the diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism (PHA). It is diagnostically preferable compared to measuring individual parameters. The clinical significance of PHA is associated with a higher incidence of cardiovascular lesions and mortality compared to a similar degree of blood pressure elevation in essential arterial hypertension. Timely diagnosis and adequate pathogenetic treatment can significantly improve the quality of life and reduce the incidence of complications.
Blood samples are recommended to be collected between 7 and 10 am.
Samples are taken in a standing or lying position after 1 hour of staying in that position.
The study is not intended for patients under 16 years of age! When registering requests for the study of steroid hormones in women, it is mandatory to indicate the presence/absence of pregnancy.
