Allergen c203 - Ampicillin, IgE

Description

Ampicillin belongs to the group of penicillins – a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent. Allergic reactions to penicillins develop due to the production of IgE against metabolites of the beta-lactam ring. Allergy to ampicillin occurs quite frequently and manifests as diseases such as urticaria, atopic dermatitis, Quincke's edema, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis. With systemic administration of this drug, anaphylactic shock is also possible. Very often, with sensitization to ampicillin, cross-allergic reactions to cephalosporins, monobactams, carbapenems are observed. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in increased amounts indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
