Description
Compared to other classes of antibiotics, tetracyclines generally have lower rates of IgE-mediated immediate hypersensitivity reactions, although other serious allergic reactions are possible. Determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in increased amounts indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to tetracycline and other tetracycline antibiotics.
