Description
Articaine (Ultracaine) is an amide-type local anesthetic of the thiophene series. Allergy to this drug is rare and can manifest as a skin rash, itching around the injection site, rhinitis, and in severe cases, as angioedema and anaphylactic shock. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in increased amounts indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen. The study is conducted only for type 1 allergic reactions. A negative test result cannot guarantee the absence of another type of allergic reaction.
