Description
Allergy to human insulin is observed significantly more often than to porcine and bovine insulin, although it is less antigenic. Allergy, as a rule, manifests as mild local skin reactions in the form of redness at the injection site or the formation of a small papule, and systemic reactions in the form of urticaria. Determination of an increased amount of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen indicates the presence of organism sensitization to it.
