Description
Milk whey contains a significant amount of proteins possessing allergenic activity; however, the allergenic activity of these proteins is significantly lower than that of whole cow's milk proteins. In case of an allergic reaction to milk whey, rash, edema, stomach discomfort, asthma, and eczema are possible. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in an elevated amount indicates an acute allergic reaction (immediate hypersensitivity).
