Description
Plums, as an etiological factor of food allergy, are considered to have moderate allergenic activity (without taking into account individual characteristics). Manifestations such as diseases of the digestive system (allergic stomatitis, cheilitis, gastritis, colitis, gastroenteritis), skin (atopic dermatitis, urticaria, Quincke's edema), and respiratory organs (allergic rhinitis, asthma) occur most often. Cross-allergy to tree pollen (birch, alder, hazel) and latex is often observed. Consumption of plums is contraindicated in aspirin-induced bronchial asthma. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in increased amounts indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
