Description
Avocado contains high concentrations of biologically active amines, including tyramine (which is directly related to the mechanisms of allergic reaction development). Due to this, pseudo-allergic reactions may occur. More commonly, manifestations such as diseases of the digestive system (allergic stomatitis, cheilitis, gastritis, colitis, gastroenteritis), skin (atopic dermatitis, urticaria, angioedema), and respiratory organs (allergic rhinitis, asthma) are encountered. Determination of elevated levels of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen indicates the presence of sensitization of the body to it.
