Description
House dust allergens are very diverse in their composition. They include substances of animal and plant origin, waste products of fungi, insects, and bacteria. The main components of house dust are mites of the genus Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae. Manifestations of an allergic reaction are usually coughing fits, difficulty breathing, and constant runny nose, especially in the morning hours. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in increased quantities indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
