Description
Bee venom is a very strong allergen. Its composition includes enzymes and biologically active substances, including histamine, which can intensify the manifestations of an allergic reaction. Contact with this allergen occurs when a person is stung by a bee or when bee venom is used as a medicinal product. Manifestations of allergy can be both local reactions in the form of allergic dermatitis, and general ones – urticaria, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock. The determination of specific IgG in the blood primarily indicates that this allergen is entering the body (often detected in beekeeping workers); in addition, it is believed that an increased concentration of specific IgG in the blood contributes to reducing the manifestations of immediate-type allergic reactions mediated by IgE and the formation of delayed-type hypersensitivity.
