Description
Cockroach allergens can be found in house dust and play an important role in the pathogenesis of respiratory allergoses. Sources of cockroach allergens include saliva, feces, and body tissues of dead individuals. Allergic reactions to German cockroaches most often manifest as allergic dermatosis, urticaria, rhinitis, and bronchial asthma. The determination of increased amounts of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
