Description
Fire ant allergens can be found in house dust and play an important role in the pathogenesis of respiratory allergoses. Sources of fire ant allergens are the metabolic products of these insects, as well as the bodies of dead specimens. Allergic reactions to fire ants most often manifest as allergic dermatosis, urticaria, rhinitis, and bronchial asthma. The determination of elevated levels of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
