Description
The most common type of allergy is pollen allergy, which, as a rule, has a seasonal character and is confined to the flowering periods of plants to the pollen of which there is sensitization. The occurrence of allergy to nettle pollen is directly related to its flowering period (June – August). Quite often there are cases of cross-allergic reaction to melon, sunflower seeds, sunflower oil, halva, mayonnaise, watermelon, zucchini, eggplant, mustard, spinach, beets, absinthe, vermouth, lettuce, Jerusalem artichoke, chicory, citrus fruits, honey. Allergy manifests as profuse lacrimation, discharge from the nasal cavity; less often as skin manifestations; in severe cases, as attacks of suffocation, urticaria, Quincke's edema, seasonal pollen dermatitis with severe itching and various rashes. The determination of specific immunoglobulin E to this allergen in an increased amount indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
