Description
A glycoprotein that serves as a marker of squamous cell carcinoma of various localizations. It belongs to the serpin protease group. It is considered an independent prognostic marker in squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix and nasopharynx. High SCCA levels may indicate lymph node involvement and a high risk of tumor recurrence. Elevated marker levels may also be observed in bronchial asthma, hepatic failure, and renal failure.
