Description
Adenoviruses cause the development of acute diseases characterized by damage to the respiratory organs, eyes, and lymph nodes. The most common clinical forms of adenovirus infection are acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI), pharyngitis, pharyngoconjunctival fever, tonsillitis, otitis media, and epidemic keratoconjunctivitis. Damage to the gastrointestinal tract organs with adenoviral gastroenteritis is possible.
Class IgA antibodies (secretory) provide predominantly local protection at the level of mucous membranes. The appearance and increase in the concentration of IgA antibodies can be observed both during primary infection and during reinfection and exacerbation of latent infection. Detectable levels of IgA antibodies are not determined in all cases of current infection. IgG appear a few days after infection. Their concentration grows rapidly during the period of acute infection. For a complete diagnostic picture, it is necessary to determine IgA and IgG antibodies simultaneously. For serological confirmation of acute infection, it is desirable to conduct a comprehensive determination of IgA and IgG antibodies in dynamics with an interval of 10-14 days.
