Description
Detection of specific antibodies is the most sensitive and specific method for diagnosing syphilis. Determination of class M immunoglobulins in blood is used for the diagnosis of primary, secondary, and congenital syphilis. These antibodies appear in the blood in diagnostic titers from the 2nd week of the disease. During treatment, if effective, a gradual decrease in IgM titers occurs, which can be used to monitor the administered therapy.
