Description
The study is intended for the qualitative determination of antibodies to Borrelia antigens in human blood serum for the diagnosis of tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease) and associated diseases: chronic erythema migrans, benign lymphadenosis cutis, acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans, arthritis, carditis, lymphocytic meningoradiculoneuritis, neuroborreliosis. Immunoglobulins M (IgM) appear in the blood first. They are detected 2-3 weeks after the tick bite, reaching a maximum after 6 weeks, then their level gradually decreases over several months and even years. Immunoglobulins G (IgG) can be detected several weeks after infection, reaching maximum levels after 4-6 months, and circulate in the blood for several months to several years, even after effective antimicrobial therapy and cure of the infection. Immunoglobulins G are suitable for later diagnosis.
