Description
Antibodies to nucleosome-associated double-stranded DNA are a marker of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with renal involvement and occur significantly more frequently in this disease (60-70%) than anti-dsDNA antibodies. The test has high specificity for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (up to 98%) and is not found in other autoimmune diseases. It is useful for monitoring the activity of renal involvement in SLE.
