Description
Insulin antibodies belong to autoantibodies found in the blood of one-third of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (insulin-dependent). These antibodies are produced against endogenous insulin (produced by pancreatic cells) and serve as a predictive marker of type 1 diabetes mellitus, as in most cases they appear before the formation of the clinical picture of the disease. The test is used for monitoring diabetes mellitus and predicting the risk of developing the disease in predisposed individuals.
