Chlamydia pneumoniae, IgG

Description

This group of antibodies appears 3-5 weeks after infection. High IgG titers are observed throughout the course of the disease, and small amounts can persist in the blood for many months after recovery, sometimes for a lifetime. With the reactivation of a chronic infection or reinfection, the antibody titer increases again. A 4-fold increase in titer compared to the baseline level is diagnostically significant. The test is used for the diagnosis of acute chlamydial infection and exacerbation of chronic disease. Due to the peculiarities of the infection course and the prevalence of respiratory chlamydiosis, these antibodies in low titers can be detected in 50-70% of clinically healthy adults.
