Description
IgM class antibodies to Chlamydia pneumoniae are detected in relatively small quantities 2-3 weeks after pathogen entry into the body. This class of antibodies is detectable in the blood of infected individuals for a relatively short time – on average 2-3 months, progressively decreasing to diagnostically insignificant titers. The detection of IgM indicates acute or recent infection.
Indications for analysis:
1. Pneumonia in children or immunocompromised individuals
2. Acute upper respiratory tract infections
