Description
The study is intended for the detection of legionellosis - an infection caused by the pathogen Legionella pneumophila, and is based on the determination of total antibodies (IgM and IgG) to L. pneumophila (serogroups 1-6) in blood serum. Legionellosis varies in severity from a mild febrile illness to a serious and sometimes fatal form of pneumonia. Most cases of atypical pneumonia in humans are caused by Legionella pneumophila (serogroup 1).
