Description
Antibodies of this type appear 2-4 weeks after clinical manifestations and persist in the blood for about a year. A characteristic sign of primary infectious mononucleosis is the presence of EA IgG in the absence of IgG to the viral nuclear antigen (EBNA). High levels of this class of antibodies are detected during the chronic course of Epstein-Barr viral infection, as well as in Burkitt's lymphoma.
