Description
A test detecting specific antibodies of serotypes O:3, O:9 to the causative agent of yersiniosis using the IHA (passive or indirect hemagglutination assay) method. Y. enterocolitica often provokes symptoms similar to those of acute inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and appendicitis. Yersinia enterocolitica serotypes O:3 and O:9 are among those that most frequently cause yersiniosis. Serovars O:3 have greater enterotoxicity, while O:9 have greater invasiveness. The test result is provided in a semi-quantitative format: result (positive or negative) and titer. The test must be performed starting from the 2nd week of the disease at least twice; a 4-fold or more intense increase in antibody levels in paired sera collected with an interval of 10-15 days is diagnostically significant.
