Description
Detection of IgG class antibodies using ELISA is the main method for diagnosing toxocariasis. The degree of antibody titer increase in the blood correlates with the severity of the disease. In individuals with a relatively low diagnostically significant titer, in the absence of clinical symptoms, the test result may indicate contact with the pathogen without the development of pathology. In such cases, dynamic assessment of the antibody level is necessary. After treatment, the analysis can be used to monitor its effectiveness. False-positive results may be observed in people with severe immunodeficiency and lymphoproliferative diseases.
