Description
A parasitic disease characterized by a diversity of clinical manifestations and significant variability in the course of the disease, depending on the state of the immune system: from asymptomatic carriage to severe, lethal forms of the disease. Toxoplasmosis belongs to the group of TORCH infections (abbreviation for Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes), which are considered potentially dangerous for the child's development. IgG appears in the blood during the convalescence period and persists for 10 years after the disease. The analysis is used to assess the dynamics of the disease course, as well as the immunity tension. For the diagnosis of acute infection, joint determination of IgG and IgM is recommended.
The causative agent of the disease, Toxoplasma gondii, belongs to the protozoa Sporozoa, genus Toxoplasma.
