Cytomegalovirus, IgM

Description

In primary cytomegalovirus infection, the most important diagnostic criterion for the activity of the infectious process is a significant increase in IgM. During the exacerbation of a chronic infection, the titer of IgM class antibodies rises slightly. Detection of high levels of IgM class antibodies to cytomegalovirus in the blood is a reliable sign of an acute cytomegalovirus infection.
