Description
Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies are a complex of antibodies specific to various granulocytic, monocytic, and possibly endothelial cytoplasmic antigens. These antibodies are in most cases directed against proteinase-3 and neutrophil bactericidal permeability-increasing protein. This type of antibody is most often detected in Wegener's syndrome, but can also be found in certain other autoimmune diseases (Goodpasture's syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, polyarteritis nodosa, rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis). Determination of this group of antibodies in dynamics is important for predicting the course of the disease and the likelihood of relapse. The study determines total IgG class antibodies to neutrophil cytoplasm, indicating the titer and the presence of one of two types of fluorescence: cytoplasmic (c-ANCA) or perinuclear (p-ANCA).
