Description
The immune response upon pathogen penetration is characterized by a rapid increase in the titer of class A immunoglobulins. IgA production begins in the first week after pathogen penetration. Their level in the blood remains elevated even during an asymptomatic course of the disease. These antibodies provide humoral protection of the body's mucous membranes against the invasion of intracellular parasites; their titer may vary depending on the massiveness of colonization. The determination of these antibodies is used to evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment administered.
