Description
This class of immunoglobulins appears during the acute phase of primary infection and, most often, persists at a sufficiently high level for life, providing lasting immunity. A 4-fold increase in blood antibody titer compared to the baseline level is diagnostically significant and serves as a laboratory sign of mumps reinfection. This test is also necessary to assess the immune response before vaccination and evaluate its effectiveness.
