Description
Total antibodies to hepatitis D virus are detected in the blood starting from the 2nd week of the disease and can persist in high titers for up to several months. In recovered individuals, they are detected in low concentrations for life. Viral hepatitis D can infect a human only in conjunction with HBV; therefore, the test is recommended to be performed together with the detection of viral hepatitis B markers.
