Description
The infection rate of the adult population with human herpes virus type 6 is more than 90%. Primary infection with clinical manifestations occurs in childhood; by the age of two, almost all children encounter this infection. In adults, the disease caused by HHV-6 can occur only in cases of severe suppression of the immune system. In children under 2 years of age, the detection of IgG to the pathogen, in the presence of clinical manifestations, can serve as laboratory confirmation of HHV-6 associated infection.
