Description
IgM class antibodies to hepatitis B virus HBcAg are detected in high titers already at the beginning of the acute phase of the disease. Their detection is a convincing criterion for the diagnosis of hepatitis B, especially with negative HBsAg detection results. These antibodies are present in the patient's blood for several months and then disappear, which is a favorable prognostic sign of the body's recovery. Anti-HBc are normally absent in blood serum.
