Description
A comprehensive study of major blood lipids to assess the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
The complex includes a lipid profile with calculation of the atherogenic coefficient and CRP – a high-precision marker of vascular wall inflammation. Elevated CRP levels are associated with a high risk of atherosclerosis and complications (heart attacks, strokes).
Composition of the complex:
Total cholesterol – the main parameter for detecting lipid metabolism disorders, in which the condition of blood vessels deteriorates and the risk of cardiovascular diseases increases.
High-density lipoproteins (HDL) – contain "good" cholesterol, which is transported from vessel walls to the liver – thereby excess cholesterol is removed from the blood.
Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) – particles with "bad" cholesterol that can linger on vessel walls and lead to the formation of plaques that disrupt blood flow through vessels.
Very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) – a variety of "bad" cholesterol. They exist mainly to transport simple fats – triglycerides – through the blood.
Atherogenic coefficient – a calculated indicator – the ratio of LDL to HDL. Abnormal levels may indicate an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Triglycerides – simple fats, elevated levels of which describe a marker of cardiovascular disease risk.
C-reactive protein, quantitative (high-sensitivity method) – a marker of active inflammation in the vessel wall – one of the signs of the development of atherosclerosis.
"Atheroscreen" is a screening test intended for people without any symptoms of cardiovascular diseases or related illnesses. It can be recommended for all men aged 35 years and older and all women aged 45 years and older.
