Description
A comprehensive quantitative analysis allowing the determination of estradiol, estrone, estriol, and pregnanediol levels in urine. Estrogens are steroid sex hormones predominating in the female body. Estrogen synthesis in women is carried out by the follicular apparatus of the ovaries, and in men mainly by the testes (up to 20%). In women, estrogens ensure the normal development and functioning of the reproductive system, while in men they participate in the regulation of prostate and testicular functions. Estrogens are represented by three forms: estrone (folliculin) - E1, estradiol - E2, and estriol - E3, which have different physiological activity: E2 ˃ E3 ˃ E1. Progestogens are steroid sex hormones produced in women by the corpus luteum of the ovaries, placenta, and partially by the adrenal cortex, and in men by the adrenal cortex (in small amounts) and testes. In women, they ensure the possibility of the onset and maintenance of pregnancy. In men, progesterone is produced in small amounts as an intermediate product of testosterone and cortisol synthesis and participates in the functioning of the CNS.
The study is not intended for patients under the age of 16! When registering requests for the study of steroid hormones in women, it is mandatory to indicate the presence/absence of pregnancy.
