Description
Phenobarbital belongs to anticonvulsant and hypnotic drugs from the group of barbituric acid derivatives (barbiturates). It is used in the therapy of epilepsy and other diseases accompanied by seizures, anxiety states, sleep disorders, hyperbilirubinemia, and in combination with other drugs for certain other diseases. With a single dose, the highest concentration in the blood is observed after 1-2 hours; it is recommended to perform the first measurement of the substance concentration at this time after starting treatment. Subsequently, monitoring of the concentration in plasma is advisable to be carried out every 3-4 weeks.
