Description
One of the components of the blood coagulation system (coagulation factor I). It is a glycoprotein - a fibrin monomer. Synthesized in the liver. After activation due to the action of thrombin and conversion into fibrin, it precipitates, forming a blood clot along with other components. The level of fibrinogen in the blood has diagnostic value in pathologies of the blood coagulation system, inflammatory processes, liver pathology, pregnancy monitoring, and cardiovascular system diseases.
