Description
FibroMax: A complex of calculated indices for assessing the degree of fibrosis, steatosis, and the activity of the pathological process in the liver. FibroMax is a non-invasive (without biopsy) method for assessing the state of liver tissue. FibroMax consists of several laboratory tests, the results of which are used to calculate five most important indicators of the state of liver tissue: - fibrosis stage according to the METAVIR scale (FibroTest), - degree of necroinflammatory reaction (ActiTest), - degree of liver steatosis (fatty degeneration of tissue) (SteatoTest), - diagnosis of non-alcoholic liver damage with determination of its activity - non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NashTest), - diagnosis of alcoholic liver damage with determination of its activity (AshTest). The calculation algorithm was developed in France and confirmed in more than 40 independent international studies on thousands of patients. The method is approved by the healthcare systems of France, the USA, Canada, the UK, and other countries. The efficacy of using FibroMax as an alternative to liver biopsy has been proven in the overwhelming majority of clinical situations. It allows for a comprehensive assessment of changes caused by liver disease. The test has high sensitivity and specificity regarding liver fibrosis and steatosis caused by viral or toxic factors, as well as diseases leading to liver tissue damage (diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, excess body weight). Indications for prescription: - chronic hepatitis B, - chronic hepatitis C, - steatosis, - alcoholic steatohepatitis, - excess weight, - diabetes mellitus, - hypertension, - hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. The analysis has some limitations (therefore, before undergoing the examination, it is recommended to consult a doctor): 1. The test is not performed in patients under 18 years of age and patients with a transplanted liver. 2. The following factors may influence the results of the study (the study has limited application or is not used in their presence): - presence of acute hepatitis caused by virus types A, B, or Epstein-Barr, - presence of acute autoimmune hepatitis or drug-induced hepatitis, - Gilbert's syndrome with high hyperbilirubinemia, - intake of protease inhibitors (Indinavir, Atazanavir, Ritonavir), - intake of azathioprine and ribavirin, - presence of chronic hemolysis (for example, in patients with a prosthetic heart valve), - cholelithiasis with acute cholestasis, - hepatonecrosis, - presence of an acute infectious disease of the respiratory system or kidneys, - in the presence of lipemia and/or hemolysis in the obtained serum (the study is not performed). 3. The results of the study should be interpreted with caution if an isolated increase/decrease of one of the laboratory indicators is observed (not correlating with the clinical situation), namely: - haptoglobin below 0.12 g/L or above 3.2 g/L, - transaminases above 622 IU/L, - bilirubin above 30 µmol/L, - GGT below 50 IU/L, - alpha-2 macroglobulin above 5.0 g/L.
