Description
A soluble fragment of the scaffold protein of epithelial cells. Its measurement is most informative for the detection of squamous cell and non-small cell lung carcinoma, and bladder carcinoma (in both cases the test specificity reaches 95%), especially in the presence of metastases, as well as for monitoring their therapy. Elevated levels of the tumor marker may be observed in benign and inflammatory liver diseases and in renal failure. The main indications for the test are the diagnosis and therapy monitoring of squamous cell lung carcinoma and invasive forms of bladder cancer.
