Gastroscreen

Description

A complex blood test including specific proteins of the digestive tract (gastrin-17, pepsinogen I and II) and IgG antibodies to H. pylori, which is used for non-invasive assessment of the condition of the gastric mucosa and the state of the secretory activity of the gastric mucosa. It allows obtaining an idea of the level of hydrochloric acid secretion, establishing the nature and severity of changes in the gastric mucosa, as well as the fact of Helicobacter pylori infection – the main cause of chronic gastritis, gastric ulcer disease, and gastric cancer.

"Gastroscreen" is based on the assessment of the interaction of four key biomarkers regulating normal gastric physiology:

• pepsinogen I;
• pepsinogen II;
• gastrin-17;
• IgG antibodies to Helicobacter pylori (quantitative).

Advantages of the method:
• non-invasive method for diagnosing gastric pathology when there are contraindications to instrumental examination methods (EGD, etc.);
• allows conducting laboratory diagnostics and developing a treatment strategy for atrophic gastritis (including Helicobacter etiology);
• possibility of repeated examination in dynamics to monitor the effectiveness of therapy.

Indications for the study
Diagnosis of the condition and localization of changes in the gastric mucosa:
• with clinical and laboratory signs of gastritis of the antral part of the stomach, with suspicion of precancerous changes in the stomach (atrophy, intestinal metaplasia) in gastritis to confirm the diagnosis, assess the risk of developing gastric cancer, and determine the order of endoscopic observation);
• in patients with contraindications to endoscopic examination;
• presence of relatives with gastric cancer or chronic atrophic gastritis;
• in iron deficiency and pernicious anemia;
• in cases of dyspepsia;
• to monitor therapy with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
