Description
A comprehensive study determining the genetic histocompatibility of partners. The difference between spouses in HLA gene variants is considered one of the important conditions for the successful onset and maintenance of pregnancy. Similarity between spouses in HLA gene variants leads to an increased probability of having a fetus with a double set of identical gene variants, i.e., HLA homozygotes, or a complete match between the fetus and the mother by HLA genotype, which is an unfavorable factor that may result in reproductive losses. In this regard, HLA typing is used to diagnose the causes of miscarriage and infertility. In reproductive disorders, the number of matches of HLA class II gene variants in spouses is important: the fewer matches, the higher the probability of pregnancy.
HLA class II genotyping involves identifying specific gene variants from all possible ones. The study includes 3 HLA gene loci: HLA-DRB1, HLA-DQA1, and HLA-DQB1.
