Description
A complex genetic study designed to identify the risk of developing severe periodontitis and its complications. It involves the analysis of two genetic markers of genes encoding proteins - cytokines of the interleukin 1 (IL-1) family, which participate in the regulation and development of the inflammatory process. Knowledge of the genotype for the IL1A and IL1B genes is important in developing a plan for preventive measures and treatment of periodontitis, and allows predicting its complications, taking into account other risk factors.
When is it prescribed?
• Selection of rational therapy for periodontitis
• Early signs of periodontal diseases
• Severe periodontitis
• Prognosis of the development of aggressive periodontitis and its complications
• Determination of the risk of complications during dental prosthetics, implant rejection
• Implant placement in a patient from a risk group (loosening and loss of teeth, history of gingivitis)
• Presence of severe periodontitis in family history (hereditary burden of periodontitis)
• Presence of relatives with a pathological genotype of IL1A and IL1B
• Prognosis of the severity of the disease course in patients at risk for periodontitis (smokers, presence of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus)
• Pregnancy, pregnancy planning
The examination results are issued with an interpretation by a geneticist.
