Genetic risk of developing thrombophilia

Description

Hereditary thrombophilia is a disease most often caused by the carriage of unfavorable markers in the genes of blood coagulation factors and homocysteine regulation. An increased risk of developing hereditary thrombophilia should be suspected in the presence of a burdened family and personal history (deep vein thrombosis or severe varicose veins under the age of 50 in the patient and/or their relatives). The analysis includes a molecular genetic study of the most important genetic markers of hereditary thrombophilia - blood coagulation factors, allowing to assess the individual genetic risk of developing venous and arterial thromboembolism. It is important to know that the disease in the presence of hereditary predisposition can be prevented by timely preventive and therapeutic measures.

The investigated genetic markers: F2 (G20210A), F5 (G1691A), MTHFR (C677T), MTHFR (A1298C).

The examination results are issued with the interpretation of a geneticist.
