Description
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most common malignant diseases in men and ranks second in cancer mortality among them, second only to lung cancer. To date, heredity is considered a leading factor among PCa risk factors. A number of genes have been described in which pathogenic variants increase the risk of developing PCa. The pathogenic variant p.Gly84Glu (p.G84E) in the HOXB13 gene has been identified, in which the risk of PCa is from 33%. HOXB13-associated PCa is characterized by an earlier onset, as well as a more aggressive course (onset of the disease – up to 55 years, high Gleason score and increased risk of biochemical recurrence).
