DPYD Genotyping for Chemotherapy Toxicity Assessment (DPYD*2A (c.1905+1G>A), DPYD *13 (c.1679T>G; p.Ile560Ser), c.2846A>T (p.Asp949Val) and HapB3 (c.1129–5923C>G)

Description

The DPYD gene encodes the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPYD), which is a key link in the metabolism of fluoropyrimidines. Fluoropyrimidines (5-fluorouracil, capecitabine) are used in chemotherapy for oncological diseases: colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, liver cancer, etc. Screening for DPYD deficiency is recommended before starting therapy with these drugs. Partial or complete deficiency of the DPYD enzyme indicates an increased risk of severe toxic reactions.
