Description
A study of histamine concentration in the blood, used for the diagnosis of various clinical forms of mastocytosis, anaphylaxis, and other allergic reactions. Histamine is a biogenic amine possessing diverse functions in the human body. Histamine is synthesized from the amino acid histidine by mast cells, basophils, platelets, as well as enterochromaffin cells and histaminergic neurons. Histamine is one of the main mediators of inflammation; its role is especially great in the development of type I allergic reactions. The study of histamine levels in the blood is conducted to diagnose diseases accompanied by hyperactivation of mast cells. Currently, histamine testing is an additional method for diagnosing these diseases.
This test is used for:
• diagnosis of mastocytosis;
• diagnosis and prevention of anaphylactic reactions.
