Description
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is the newest cytogenetic research method, during which the presence and localization of specific DNA sequences on chromosomes are detected. Genetic markers: translocations t(14;18)(q32;q21), t(2;18)(p11;q21), t(18;22)(q21;q11) are formed due to the "fusion" (translocation) of the BCL2 gene with various genes in the precursor cells of hematopoietic tissue. As a result, the cells of the lymphoid lineage lose the ability to respond to external stimuli triggering apoptosis mechanisms. Analysis of the presence of translocations is a crucial diagnostic procedure for follicular lymphoma.
