Description
Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) is the newest cytogenetic research method, during which the presence and localization of specific DNA sequences on chromosomes are detected. Translocation t(11;14)(q13;q32), detected in B-cell tumors, leads to the rearrangement of the CCND1 (BCL1, PRAD1) proto-oncogene into the loci of immunoglobulin light chain genes. Analysis of the presence of translocation is a critical diagnostic procedure for mantle cell lymphoma.
