This is an examination that includes the preparation of histological specimens from material obtained after a thyroidectomy—the complete removal of the thyroid gland—with subsequent examination under a microscope. A histological examination is performed to clarify and confirm a clinical diagnosis, to determine the morphological type of the tumor arising from glandular tissue, the degree of malignancy of the removed thyroid nodules, and the variant of the inflammatory reaction in the thyroid tissue.
