Description
Glucagon is a pancreatic peptide hormone that, as a counter-regulatory hormone to insulin, stimulates glucose release by the liver and maintains glucose homeostasis. It is an insulin antagonist. Normal secretion of the hormone is necessary to maintain the stability of blood glucose levels.
